I started off very slowly with working out underwater. The first thing I did is watch these clips over and over, until I felt I could remember how to perform these exercises the correct way. I built up slowly to a routine done in chest deep water for 1 hour - 1.5 hours in my local swimming pool. I LOVED it. It felt wonderful to work out underwater - it was an old heated pool and it felt wonderful to be able to move so effortlessly underwater. I could do things I could not do normally due to certain disabilities. Of course you should not start on any new exercise program without consulting your doctor and if possible, join a class or find an expert in water exercises. I did not have that opportunity, due to being rural. So I just built up slowly. Soon people at the pool that were swimming laps each day, stared to notice that I was losing weight and on a regular basis. Many people started to take notice of what I was doing as they could see the changes occuring in my body.

If you are being too ambitious, the calculator will tell you that you are trying to lose weight at an unsafe rate. Of course, you again should consult with a doctor or health specialist to determine the right amount of calories for your activity level and your personal weigh goal. It is generally considered unsafe to consume less than 1200 calories a day. Because I am mostly bedbound and my activity level was so low, the amount I consumed each day was a little lower than average.
